Young Students Bridge Generations With Poetry, Song at The Cove

A visit from kindergartners at Padre Pio Academy brought joy and intergenerational connection to The Cove on Wednesday, as students shared poetry, music, and laughter with older adults and guests.

Led by educator Ms. Cathleen Coyne, the young performers began their program with a touching group recital of Robert Frost’s classic poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. They followed with a spirited rendition of “A is for Adorable,” using American Sign Language to enhance the performance.

The program continued with a lighthearted reading of Shel Silverstein’s The Unicorn, and concluded with a playful singalong of “Six Little Ducks.” The children delighted the audience by using duck whistles, prompting smiles and laughter throughout the room.

Staff and visitors at The Cove described the event as uplifting and heartwarming. “It was a beautiful reminder of the happiness that comes from connecting across generations,” one attendee said.

The Cove extended its gratitude to Padre Pio Academy and Ms. Coyne for what organizers called a “memorable and meaningful” afternoon.
